Growth & Challenge
DialogTech had been growing systematically over the years at 300 W. Adams and had gradually begun to outpace their space; split between two floors (the 9th and 11th), the floor between occupied by an unaffiliated company. Company culture began to suffer noticeably to the point of people riding the elevator up together and not even knowing they were coworkers. The CEO said “it felt like two different companies.” The floor plan was not conducive and, moral had appeared to suffer; generally speaking, employees were not prideful of their workspace which proved limiting when attempting (and retain) new talent.
The new space inspiring pride and authentic enjoyment across the employee ranks was imperative. Leadership wanted to make sure the new location would be in the neighborhood with peers in the tech industry, but remain close to transportation for the employee core and clients.
120 S. Riverside definitely stood out. The space was bright and provided the foundation for a tech-forward company with a youthful workforce and ethos.
DialogTech needed to create a welcoming space where DialogTech employees and customers alike would gravitate. A vibrant, connected and collaborative energy immediately resulted by bringing the Chicago team together into one location. With strong projections, DialogTech knew finding a way to consolidate in one space would be an advantage. The lighting, floor plan, location and space itself have all been seemingly ideal.
Access to public transportation, hotels, dining/social options in the area all make hosting clients/partners easy and thus happens more frequently. The ability to engage clients and partners more easily fosters collaboration and the ability to co-innovate effectively for joint value creation. The open and flexible floor plan, and design of the entry/reception area all provide a convenient way to host clients without disrupting the collaborative culture and the leadership’s desire to foster that. First impressions would definitely be congruent with company, partner, vendor, and client expectations going forward.
Insights For Founders
"The best advice I've gotten is: Heroes don’t scale. Your greatest individual will never outperform a solid team with the right processes supporting them. It's why I’m a big proponent of hiring smart people and then working with them to develop repeatable processes that scale and drive growth. I also believe that SaaS companies need to do more than just deliver a great product -- they should partner with their customers to drive growth for their customer's business. For example, DialogTech provides marketing data and insights from consumer calls to businesses, but our customers choose DialogTech because our people act as an extension of their business, helping them hit their goals."
